McGuinty may have dropped the one passenger limit, but this law is still unjust. Firstly, it discriminates against the youth of Ontario; the future of the nation. Secondly, it will be an insurance haven if this law is passed.
Equal Rights
For the longest time people have been fighting for equal rights, from blacks, to women, to homosexuals, and now the youth.
"In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds." - Martin Luther King
My fellow youth, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. We must gain our rightful place in our society. For too long the youth of this province have been oppressed by a government by the people and for the people.
By sacrificing our right to drive and our right to learn, we the youth of Ontario will be defeated in another battle for our freedom; A battle we regularly lose. We are seen as immature by the government we elected. We must stand up and take what we deserve: our voice, our freedom.
Do you believe in second chances? Do you believe you learn from your mistakes?
If you said yes, then you do not believe in this new legislation. This legislation takes away our chance to learn from our mistakes. Any demeritable offence, as minor as it may be, will now be a reason for them to take your license away. This is our government, elected by us, taking away our right to make mistakes. We're only human. We're not perfect. Does this seem fair to you?
Do you believe you should pay more money for already expensive insurance?
If you said no, you are not alone. First off, the minimum amount of time a new driver must wait from G2 to G has been extended. As you know, during the G2 period insurance is a lot more expensive than when you have your G. Think about it, an extended G2 period is an extended period for insurance companies to take more of your money. It makes no sense to extend the G2 period. If you can pass the G test after one year and they are not updating the test, then why should they extend the G2 period? Secondly the insurance companies will love it when you have minor demeritable offences. They get to boost your insurance costs up because the cops can take away your license. Before this law, your insurance would not go up as drastically as it will now if you are caught.
So you see, we must prevail and stop such a horrible law from being passed. The consequences will be brutal if we don't. Not only will we have no second chances, and higher insurance rates, but we will also lose our freedom as young drivers. We must end this legislation before it is too late.
