"Psychology has identified five stages of grief: Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. But Tim Mulcahy knows a sixth: Action." - The Globe and Mail
It all started with the sudden and sad death of
Tyler Mulcahy. He died in an accident while drinking and driving (DUI),
along with his two close friends Cory and Kou. Their death might have been sudden, but Tyler's father Tim Mulcahy
feels his job as father is not done until no family has to go through the same trauma he and his family are going
through. Did he fail as a father? Did he fail to teach his son the importance of not drinking and driving?
Apparently so and now he is trying to redeem himself as a father, person, and civilized human being by putting
into motion the strictest young driving law in the world.
It started as a low key mission in face of the public. Ads were posted in the local papers, trying to bring
attention to his cause. Eventually Premier Dalton McGuinty picked up on the cause, and decided to make one
desperate father's mission a reality.

Dalton McGuinty brought forward a new legislation:
1. "Zero-tolerance" speeding policy for G1, G2, and G license holders.
Your license will be taken away or suspended, even if your going marginally over the limit. The first offense gets
your license suspended for 30 days. On the second offense, your license is suspended for 90 days. On the third
offense your license is taken away and you have to complete the graduated licensing process from the start.
2. "Zero-tolerance" alcohol policy.
If you have more then 0% alcohol in your blood, your license will be taken away.
3. Passenger limit for G2 license holders.
Drivers until 21 with a G2 license may only carry one other teenage passenger.
All this for one father's quest to clear his conscience. But what does this mean for responsible drivers? The ones who do not drink and drive. Who have as far as insurance and the police are concerned perfect driving records.
Fear the worse as one little offense like speeding will for sure be taking as a serious offense for us responsible drivers. Insurance will have its fun doubling its insurance rate, that is when you are able to drive again. Yes lets enjoy increased insurance rates and suspended drivers licenses.
